Fuel cell technology has a good chance of making a breakthrough in the automotive industry and other mobility market segments. To establish a future leadership position in this technology area, a significant proportion of the value-added stages would have to be manufactured in Germany and Europe. This requires significant investment in technologies, as well as research and development resources. Innovation and scaling in production can contribute to differentiation in international competition. In addition to access to raw materials and feedstocks, the recycling of end-of-life products and the establishment of a functioning European hydrogen economy and infrastructure are fundamental.
