The German government has committed itself internationally and at European level to achieving climate targets and has defined national greenhouse gas reduction targets for the various sectors. In the transport sector, GHG emissions are to be reduced by 48% by 2030, compared with the reference year of 1990.

To achieve this goal, our transport system faces a profound transformation. The aim is to create a mobility system that is largely greenhouse gas-neutral, economically viable and shaped socially with a commitment to the public. This requires far-reaching social and economic change processes, particularly in the automotive industry and in mobility patterns.

Structure and operation

The Working Group identified suitable (bundes of) measures to achieve the transportation sector climate goals for 2030, taking into account their interactions with the private sector and society.
