Key Findings and Recommendations – Achievements and Open Issues (German report)

Final report 07/2021

Through the use of the energy carriers electricity, gas and hydrogen, the transformation of transport is leading to an increasing interlinking of the transport and energy sectors. This sector coupling is thus a central prerequisite for a successful transformation of the transport sector, and the kilowatt-hour is the new unit of the transport sector. Against this background, the NPM’s Working Group 5 “Linking Transport and Energy Networks, Sector Coupling” examined key issues relating to charging, refueling, network and generation infrastructures for alternative forms of propulsion and energy sources. From this, action requirements and recommendations were derived in the direction of politics, business and society. The work was aimed at a demand-oriented, economical and user-oriented development of the infrastructure.
