Data and Networking – Standards and Norms for Intermodal Mobility (German report)

Interim report 07/2021

Intermodal travel, i.e., the use of different means of transport for one route, is already practiced in many ways today and holds great potential for more sustainable mobility as an alternative to private motorized transport. However, widespread application as well as convenient and safe use continue to be hampered by inconsistent booking and billing processes or a lack of data exchange between mobility providers. So what standards and norms are needed and what conditions must be met to enable seamless, affordable, low-emission intermodal passenger and freight transport in Germany as well as in Europe? The two working groups (WG) 3 Digitization for the Mobility Sector and 6 Standardization, Standardization, Certification and Type Approval have taken a position on this issue in a joint report.
