The Cabinet has approved the establishment of the National Platform Future of Mobility (NPM). Under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), six working groups are developing cross-modal solutions for sustainable, affordable and climate-friendly mobility.
The steering committee, chaired by Prof. Dr. Henning Kagermann, will be assisted by six working groups:
WG 1: Climate change and transport; Chair: Franz Loogen
WG 2: Sustainable mobility: alternative drives and fuels; Chair: Prof. Dr. Barbara Lenz
WG 3: Digitisation of the mobility sector; Chair: Klaus Fröhlich
WG 4: Securing the mobility and production site, battery cell production, raw materials and recycling, education and qualification; Chair: Jörg Hofmann
WG 5: Interconnection of transport and energy networks, sector coupling; Chair: Stefan Kapferer
WG 6: Standardisation, standardisation, certification and approval; Chairman: Roland Bent
The Federal Ministry of Transport (WG 1 together with the Federal Ministry for the Environment) is in charge of working groups 1-3 and the Federal Ministry of Economics for working groups 4-6. By establishing an Advisory Commission, the German Bundestag will also be involved in the working process.
The constituent meeting of the steering committee takes place on 26 September.
